Climate Stories, a foldable outdoor structure for low-income Indian schools promoting climate literacy through play-based learning and storytelling.

Long description

‘Climate Stories’ is a platform designed for middle school students in India, aimed at educating them about climate crisis impacts through interactive storytelling. It is a mobile educational unit, unfolding to provide an 8’ x 8’ shaded learning space outdoors, specifically targeting low to middle-income schools. Creative storytelling covers topics such as global warming, impact on vulnerable populations, and the transition towards a green economy. This project integrates itself seamlessly in the existing public speaking English curriculum by adding important climate narratives for students to read. The ‘survival kit’ wooden props like whistles, ice packs are tailored to Indian climate disasters like floods and heatwaves, aid in hand on learning and enhance the student engagement. The project seeks to increase climate literacy by addressing impacts of climate displacement, inequity, and loss of livelihood through educational interventions as extracurricular activities. Continued participation fosters critical thinking for a sustainable future.
