Long description
A research project about disposable photosynthetic materials that could be used in medical applications and beyond, Co-culturing Rituals – Biosoothe explores how human skin could benefit from photosynthesis and how this could revolutionise the way we heal. This material research builds on the foundation that bacterial cellulose serves as an optimal scaffold for fostering the growth of micro-algae, sparking interest in investigating the potential of combining micro-algae and bacterial cellulose to create a bio- composite material. The outcome is Biosoothe- a photosynthetic symbiotic material with potential applications in wound healing, skin repair and skin care.
