Long description

This project utilizes bamboo, waste polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles and nanoparticles as raw materials for paints.

The Problem

1.There is plastic pollution everywhere destroying the environment (aquatic systems and agricultural lands)

2.There is also overdependence on imported raw materials for surface coating industries

  1. Bamboo is wasted after use in building and construction works

Our solution

1.PET bottles can be utilized as binders for emulsion paint thereby reducing plastic pollution

2.Bamboo cellulose can be extracted and functionalized to serve as thickener for paints.

3.When all these materials are sourced locally, it reduces the overdependence on imported raw materials

4.Solving SDGs – #9 (Innovation), #11( Sustainable city), #13, (Climate action), #14 (Life under water)
