A SUSTAINABLE SIGNAGE SYSTEM

Long description

Imagine our graphics as little eco-systems

Growable Graphics aims to revolutionise graphic design by shifting its purpose from commercial promotion to environmental integration. By employing biophilic design principles, which mimic natural surroundings, these graphics not only enhance mental health and productivity but also contribute to urban biodiversity and temperature control.

The signage system consists of hexagon-shaped tiles covered with local moss and lichen species, serving various purposes like letters, numbers, and arrows. These tiles reside on rooftops year-round, harvested for events, and reused endlessly without generating waste. Their production aims to capture more carbon than emitted, contributing to improved air quality and biodiversity.

This project showcases a nature-inspired, sustainable design approach for the future, advocating for long-term goals over fast-fashion trends. Its purpose is to reconnect urban dwellers with nature and highlight the potential of bio-infused design to improve both aesthetics and environmental impact.
