Ikego is collaborative design system and platform for sustainable circular design. Designers create models from open multipurpose parts, enabling local workshops and larger manufacturers around the world to make and sell sustainable modular products to their customers. Multipurpose parts are the core of Ikego: it works like LEGO®, but for real products. You can build a product, take it apart and use its open parts to build something completely different. This makes it easy for anyone to upgrade, repair, reuse and remix products. Current models range from sustainable furniture and upgradable backpacks to easily repairable consumer electronics such as headphones and clocks. The system is open and driven by distributed manufacturing and open innovation: Anyone can become an Ikego designer and add new models. Anyone can manufacture Ikego products and sell them to their customers. Yes, even a customer can become a designer by simply remixing their home.
