Established in 2020, Inter Matter serves as a sustainable material library, aiding designers, architects, and creative professionals in making environmentally-conscious choices for their interior projects. Recognizing the industry’s reliance on materials with limited sustainability data and the arduous year-long certification process for individual materials, Inter Matter offers a solution. Drawing from 25 years of interior building expertise, our team collaborates with scientists, experts, and designers to swiftly disseminate crucial insights. Our tool, based on scientific principles and utilizing open-source data from TU-Delft’s Idemat platform, generates assessments focused on the 20% of a material’s life cycle that yields 80% of its impact. To enhance clarity, we simplify numerical data with color-coded labels and express measurements per square meter. Driven by intrinsic motivation, the Inter Matter team strives to demonstrate the transformative power of collaboration and knowledge-sharing in revolutionizing interior design and construction practices.
