Preserving the kiondo culture through designs that appeal to the modern customer base for a sustainable future

My project is the evolution of the kiondo. For a long time there has only been one school of thought that the kiondo has only one design and can only be made into a ladies hand bag but since 2016 have researched and studies the kiondo by engaging with the weavers and artisan at kariako(the largest kiondo industry in Kenyan) through this I created my own designs that give a whole new perspective about the kiondo, my designs involve backpacks, sling bags,DAFFLE BAGS, briefcases etc. (this will add the male customer base to the kiondo market, something unthought of inthe past) I believe this will spark a sense creativity inthe industry and give way to even more interesting ways of viewing the kiondo and add longevity to the kiondo by giving it a voice inthe future which is essentially to keep future generation connected to their cultureĀ
