Matterpieces is a strategy for building's circularity and a solution for demolition waste: a new circular material for architecture and design
Long description
Historically, architecture has prioritized human needs, often neglecting the well-being of our planet and depleting its resources. Construction consumes 50% of extracted raw materials, and demolition and construction waste (CDW) comprises 1/3 of global waste, a figure expected to increase. Matterpieces proposes a change in the paradigm of CDW valorisation, turning this waste into a strategic and noble raw material for the world’s architecture and space design.
Matterpieces aims to shape a new era of sustainable architecture by redefining the boundaries of
design, construction, and environmental responsibility. We pursue circular architecture by
upcycling demolition waste into exquisite high-end “masterpieces”, both aesthetically beautiful and
a commitment to circular practices. Matterpieces repurpose typical inert demolition waste—glass, stones, tiles, bricks, old cement, etc.—into innovative cladding solutions for floor panels, wall coverings, furniture, and countertops. Our solutions blend sustainability and aesthetics, catalyzing a positive global impact by uniting different industry players and consumers to embrace circular design, upcycling the waste of the past into a more sustainable future.
