Long description

Urbanization leads to increased generation of municipal solid waste, which ends up in landfills and harms both the environment and human health. However, if managed efficiently, waste can be transformed into valuable resources. ‘Not a Waste’ design research aims to reduce the burden on landfills by diverting legacy waste like soil-like material (SLM) through bio-remediation techniques. The initiative involves the creation of various design matrices that take into account various phases of the SLM toxicity and designing with a pattern language to create complex synergies for the landfill ecosystems.
