PLANET2 designs product-based circular economy and forces profitable repurpose of used fishing nets as green facades in urban scale.

Long description

“What stands in the way becomes the way”

PLANET2nd life concepts benefit from the properties of synthetic fabrics.  plastic nets are light and easy to hang, durable, rot-proof, UV-stable and high tear resistance. This opens up an economical alternative to energy and emission-intensive produced steel nets.

Repurposing of plastic nets declared as waste, e.g. as climbing aids for 3d-façade greening (NETREE), helps to reduce the construction industry’s immense consumption of materials.

Green walls and canopies effectively support urban climate adaptation with high building density and sealed surfaces by soil-saving, cooling, air improvement, water retention, biodiversity and recreation.

Due to their surface-area-to-volume ratio NETREE 3D-greening construction achieves many times the positive effect of conventional solutions.

At the same time, demand is generated for the properties and recyclability of used fishing nets, thus creating an economic incentive to salvage the ghost nets.
