Upcycling textile waste into home-living products to break the poverty cycle of women and youth in landfill community
Long description
Rambah Runtah is a social enterprise that aims to tackle the problem of short product life cycles and promote community empowerment by producing sustainable home-living products from textile waste. Despite being the third largest contributor to the Bantar Gebang landfills, no proper facility exists to process textile waste in the landfill. To address this issue, we collaborate with women and youth from Bantar Gebang landfill to co-create upcycled home-living products from textile waste. Our objective is to empower them to develop their circular entrepreneurship and improve their prospects, ultimately breaking the cycle of poverty in the landfill community. Furthermore, we strive to raise awareness about waste management among the wider public.
