Our project will convert water hyacinth leaves from River Thiba to briquettes as clean energy and reduce their harm to the aquatic
Long description
Water hyacinth (Eichhornia Crassipes) is a significant freshwater weed in majority of the frost-free locations of the globe and is usually considered as the most dangerous aquatic plant. They harm the terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems by leading to constant depletion of oxygen provided for fish and water/air pollution due to decomposing of the hyacinth leaves. Our team seeks to start a project that can teach and train 30 fishermen from River Thiba how to collect and convert the leaves of water hyacinth to make briquettes, which reduces harm to the aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. Additionally, the briquettes burn three times longer than conventional tree charcoal and are smoke free, thus reducing air pollution and high rates of deforestation
