World's first recycled sunglasses made from "impossible-to-recycle" plastic waste (multi-layered packaging) while empowering waste-pickers.

Long description

Multi-layered plastic packaging  (MLP – think packets of chips, chocolate wrappers) are considered impossible to recycle. Globally, 0% of it is recycled. They contain 3-5 different types of material including metal, different types of plastic and cellulose (in some cases).

We have proprietary tech around MLP recycling where we chemically de-metalize it and extract/separate polyolefins (PP+PE) and PET, converting them into consistent, high-quality, more recyclable materials and products while empowering waste-pickers out of multidimensional poverty.

As a proof of concept, we made the world’s first recycled sunglasses from polyolefins extracted from MLP. Our brand went viral when we launched, selling out our first batch in 6 days. We are fairly confident we can do this tech at scale at costs competitive with virgin plastic. In the long run, we are a materials science company at heart that creates high-quality, virgin-like sustainable materials while enabling social equality of opportunity.
