Making high-fashion goods from upcycled wrapper waste, whilst funding and empowering communal environmental action
Long description
WrapUp creates high-fashion products from lowest-value, non-recyclable, post-consumer wrapper waste, proving to the fashion industry that circular models with low-carbon footprint are possible. That beauty need not be virgin; it can be upcycled.
We use revenue from product sales to educate and inspire those with defeatist mindsets about sustainability with a special focus on school children. The promotion of sustainable lifestyles and effective waste segregation in our community-centered work not only diverts waste from landfills and neighbourhood waste-dumps, but allows us to establish a supply-chain for wrapper waste, which is otherwise challenging to collect from waste-dumps. These activities inspire action to clean neighbourhoods, improve livability conditions and decrease health risks- necessary steps to take in our city of Karachi, Pakistan as it currently ranks the 5th least-livable city in the world.
Simultaneously, we host craft D-I-Y programs, fostering skill-development among women and children from (financially) disadvantaged backgrounds, furthering our impact.
