Zerocircle is an Indian material innovation company that creates seaweed-based ocean safe materials from regenerative resources which don’t need agricultural land or fresh water to grow. With the world actively looking for plastic alternatives, the demand for single use packaging is straining our forests for pulp like never before. Global production of virgin pulp for paper exceeded 200 million metric tons in 2022 and is projected to double by 2060. At Zerocircle, we are harnessing the wasted resources of ocean and land to fix the inherent design flaw in traditional paper production. Our innovative seaweed paper, sourced from the vast Sargassum Belt in the Atlantic and reinforced with various fibers including agricultural or production waste, provides a regenerative alternative that can be scaled into a wide range of paper-based products. Our goal is to bring scalability, performance, and affordability to the commodity sector while addressing the critical issue of waste excesses from land and sea. By harnessing this abundant yet underutilized resource, we aim to uplift coastal communities and pave the way for a future where waste finds purpose and resources are cherished.
